Job Summary: 

Performs a wide range of administrative duties including referral processing, verification of benefits, insurance authorizations, patient appointment scheduling, patient registration, and medical records. 
 
Duties/Responsibilities: 
 
  • Completing referral requests as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Faxing and sending medical records from various departments for processing 
  • Responsible for the tracking, coordination, and communication of patient referrals  
  • Ensures complete and accurate patient registration, including demographics and current insurance information. 
  • Assembles information concerning patients’ clinical backgrounds and referral needs. 
  • Contacts insurance companies to ensure prior authorization approval requirements are met. 
  • Reviews details of referral with the potential patient  
  • Assists patients in problem-solving potential issues related to financial or social barriers (e.g., request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services, etc.) 
  • Communication with referral sources to ensure patient information/ registration is complete. 
  • Obtain necessary medical records for patient appointments. 
  • Input Medical records into the patient’s chart. 
 
Education and Experience
 
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Previous work experience as a Referral Coordinator or similar role 
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities  
  • Resourcefulness in problem-solving  
  • Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability 
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to lift up to 10 pounds at a time
