Payroll Specialist
Full Time, Exempt | Human Resources | Reports to: Controller

Summary of Position:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate processing and reconciliation of payroll data across the organization, ensures timely payroll reporting, audits timekeeping data, and supports system training for payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings
  • Reconcile payroll data to ensure hours, pay rates, and deductions are accurate and properly recorded
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports to leadership, HR, and finance teams
  • Audit timekeeping records for accuracy and ensure proper scheduling and timecard reconciliation
  • Provide training to employees on payroll systems and processes
  • Ensure compliance with payroll policies, supporting resolution of discrepancies or issues
  • Assist in maintaining payroll system administration, including updates and troubleshooting
  • ​Assist with implementation of new payroll software

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of payroll processing and reconciliation experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with payroll software (Paylocity, Paycor, ADP, or similar)
  • Knowledge of timekeeping and scheduling systems
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification
  • Experience with payroll reporting and cross-departmental stakeholders
  • Experience with union and non-union payroll in a healthcare organization

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting/computer work; ability to lift up to 10 lbs; occasional travel to facilities
